Tokens representing commercial bank deposits recorded on distributed-ledger infrastructure (DLT). Each token corresponds to a deposit liability on the issuing bank's balance sheet and is redeemable at par (1:1) with the underlying deposit, and remains inside the banking system. They are distinct from stablecoins that may be issued by non-bank issuers and from central bank digital currencies (CBDCs).
